tushara veerella

Tushara’s martial arts journey began at age 13 with training in Tae Kwon Do at Jong Park Taekwondo, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong commitment to martial arts and personal development. At 18, she joined Shah Franco Martial Arts, where she was introduced to a broad spectrum of disciplines including karate, kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and mixed martial arts, where she truly fell in love with it. Drawn to the technical depth and effectiveness of each system, she immersed herself in the training culture before formally beginning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 21, later expanding into mixed martial arts competition.

Her competitive accomplishments reflect both versatility and high-level performance across multiple disciplines. She represented Ontario at the national level in Olympic karate in 2009, won the FILA Amateur MMA World Championships in 2012, and has competed successfully in numerous amateur Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions.

Beyond competition, Tushara’s work is driven by a clear mission: to expand access to martial arts for women and girls by building an environment that is disciplined, technically strong, and intentionally welcoming. Her leadership philosophy centers on reducing barriers to entry while preserving the integrity of authentic martial arts training—creating a space where confidence, resilience, and community can develop alongside skill.
